1629 Market St.

Mid-Market District, San Francisco The 1629 Market Street project is a landmark mixed-use development contributing to the ongoing revitalization of San Francisco’s Mid-Market neighborhood, an area central to the city’s long-term vision for housing growth, economic activation, and vibrant public space. The development includes three nine-story residential buildings totaling 443 apartment homes, alongside a four-story replacement facility for the Local 38 Pipefitters Union Hall. Together, these elements reflect San Francisco’s commitment to increasing housing supply while maintaining critical community and labor infrastructure within the urban core. Streamline Drywall partnered with North Counties Drywall and Suffolk as a Micro Local Business Enterprise (LBE) subcontractor under a Labor Service Agreement. Streamline’s work supported the delivery of high-quality interior building systems across a complex, multi-building site, requiring close coordination with project partners and disciplined execution within a dense urban environment.

Scope of Work

  • Interior Light Gauge Metal Stud Framing: Installed interior framing systems that provide the structural backbone for residential and community spaces, supporting long-term durability, life-safety requirements, and flexible interior layouts.
  • Interior Gypsum Board Systems: Delivered high-quality gypsum board installations to create smooth, fire-rated interior surfaces, supporting occupant safety while meeting the aesthetic standards of modern multifamily housing.

Project Impact

The 1629 Market Street development plays a meaningful role in addressing San Francisco’s housing needs by delivering a mix of market-rate and affordable units while reinvigorating a key corridor of the city. The project integrates 15,000 square feet of resident amenity space, 9,000 square feet of street-level retail, and more than half an acre of publicly accessible open space, strengthening connections between residents, local businesses, and the surrounding neighbourhood.

A centrally located plaza anchored by a sculptural centrepiece serves as both a visual landmark and a gathering space, reinforcing the project’s focus on community engagement and placemaking. Through thoughtful design and coordinated construction, the development balances density with livability and contributes to the broader transformation of Mid-Market into a dynamic, walkable urban district.

Streamline is proud to support projects that advance San Francisco’s goals for inclusive housing, economic vitality, and well-designed public spaces while strengthening the fabric of its neighborhoods.
