Oakland, California Streamline Drywall supported the Head-Royce School Expansion Project alongside highy esteemed business partners at Daley's Drywall and Cahill Contractors, a multi-phase campus development advancing long-term educational excellence, thoughtful growth, and neighborhood stewardship in the Oakland hills. The project expands the School’s existing footprint across Lincoln Avenue to the former Lincoln Children’s Center site, creating a fully integrated 22-acre campus designed to serve up to 1,250 students at full buildout. The expansion is a critical investment in Head-Royce’s future, strengthening its ability to support a rigorous K–12 curriculum while preserving the character and livability of the surrounding community. The project reflects a careful balance between academic ambition, infrastructure planning, and sensitivity to neighborhood context-ensuring the campus can evolve while remaining deeply connected to its environment. A central feature of the project is the development of a new South Campus dedicated to performing arts, science, and mathematics, complementing the School’s existing academic and athletic facilities. Safe and seamless connectivity between the existing and new campuses is achieved through a pedestrian tunnel beneath Lincoln Avenue, supported by enhanced at-grade crossings that prioritize student safety and daily circulation. To further support campus operations and neighborhood compatibility, the project introduces a new internal loop road designed to streamline off-street pick-up and drop-off, reducing congestion along Lincoln Avenue during peak school hours. Transportation planning was guided by a City-required Transportation Impact Report, including traffic simulation modeling aligned with Oakland’s General Plan and adopted policies.
The Head-Royce School Expansion enhances the School’s capacity to serve a growing student population while reinforcing a campus environment that supports creativity, collaboration, and academic excellence. By integrating modern facilities with preserved historic structures and carefully planned infrastructure, the project reflects a holistic approach to campus development—one that aligns educational ambition with long-term sustainability and neighborhood stewardship.
When complete, the expanded Head-Royce campus will stand as a model for strategic, community-minded institutional growth, supporting generations of students while strengthening Oakland’s broader educational landscape.
