Sunnydale Block 3B

San Francisco, California Streamline Drywall contributed to the Sunnydale Block 3B Project, a key phase of the broader Sunnydale-Velasco redevelopment led under the City of San Francisco’s HOPE SF initiative. The project represents a major investment in affordable housing, community infrastructure, and long-term neighborhood revitalization-delivered with a commitment to equity, sustainability, and no displacement of existing residents. Sunnydale Block 3B supports San Francisco’s vision for mixed-income communities by replacing outdated public housing with new, energy-efficient homes integrated alongside retail, community-serving spaces, and essential social services. The project strengthens neighborhood connectivity while reinforcing dignity, stability, and opportunity for residents who have long called Sunnydale home. Operating within a phased redevelopment environment, Streamline delivered interior building systems that supported continuous community occupancy and carefully sequenced construction. Work was coordinated to align with the project’s resident-first approach, ensuring new homes were delivered before existing structures were removed.

Scope of Work

  • Interior Light Gauge Metal Stud Framing: Installed interior framing systems supporting durable, code-compliant residential and community spaces designed for long-term performance and flexibility.
  • Interior Gypsum Board Systems: Delivered high-quality gypsum board assemblies to create smooth, fire-rated interior surfaces that meet life-safety requirements while supporting comfortable, modern living environments.

Project Impact

Block 3B is anchored by the Nia Building, a new 90-unit affordable housing development featuring ground-floor commercial space, neighborhood retail, and shared amenities that activate the street and support daily community life. Together with adjacent phases, the project contributes to a comprehensive master plan that includes health and wellness services, early childhood education centers, new streets, and open space.

Construction began in 2023, with major residential components nearing completion in early 2025 and community grand openings celebrated later in 2025. Sunnydale Block 3B marks a meaningful milestone in San Francisco’s approach to public housing redevelopment-demonstrating that large-scale transformation can be achieved without displacement, while investing directly in people, place, and long-term resilience.

Streamline is proud to have supported a project that reflects San Francisco’s values of inclusive growth, community preservation, and thoughtful urban redevelopment.
